Lessons in Leadership-
Trojan Horse Beliefs
The Trojan Horse was supposedly used by the Greeks in their war against the Trojans to take the city of Troy. As the story goes, the Greeks built a huge hollow wooden horse. Then a small group of Greeks hid within the horse while the Greek army boarded their ships and appeared to sail away.
After some convincing by a Greek spy, the Trojans believing the horse was a peace offering from the Greeks; opened their city gates and brought the wooden horse within their city walls.
That night the Trojans celebrated their victory over the retreating Greeks until the whole city was in a drunken stupor. In the middle of the night the small band of Greeks climbed out of the horse and silently killed the Trojan sentries posted at the city gates.
Then they opened the city gates to let in the rest of the Greek army who had come back ashore. The Greeks attacked and easily captured the city and victory.
How did the Trojan Horse get inside the walls of Troy? Who allowed it to come in?
What was the result of the Trojan Horse being brought into the city walls?
The world- advertising, music, politicians, movies, books, family, friends, etc., is constantly knocking on the door of our mind and asking us to take in the beliefs that they hold. Unfortunately, we have often been deceived and have allowed “Trojan Horses” to take up residence within our own minds without ever considering whether they helpful or harmful. Whether they are true or not.
“Trojan Horses” are BELIEFS that are HALF-TRUTHS and LIES that attack our every thought and attempt at reaching living a life of significance. Many of the most powerful “Trojan Horses” enter our minds when we are young and defenseless.
Many times, these “Trojan Horses” are led to our front gates by the very people we love the most. Most of the time not intentionally or with a desire to harm, but never the less the impact is just as damaging.
“Trojan Horse” beliefs are within the walls of our own minds. We alone can expose and deal with these “Trojan Horse” beliefs. We let them in and only we can take them captive and kick them out for good.
92. Based on your worst thoughts, habits and actions what “Trojan Horse” -underlying/hidden beliefs are sabotaging your ability to lead a life of significance?
93. How can you protect yourself from “Trojan Horse” believes- past, present and future?
